  • Greg Goodwin
    Greg Goodwin

    Greg Goodwin is CEO of Kuni Automotive, a highly profitable, privately held auto retailer operating sixteen dealerships in four Western states with approximately 1,450 employees.

    Greg serves as a mentor for our fifteen General Manager/Partners. Under his leadership, Kuni Automotive provides industry leading customer service, superior brand representation, and top tier operating performance, as evidenced by:

    · Operating revenue of approximately $1 billion

    · Significant facility investments, including an exciting new Lexus dealership in Greenwood Village (Denver metro) that opened in 2013, and the new Kuni Chevrolet Cadillac that opened in Sacramento in 2014

    · Named BMW Center of Excellence in U.S. for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012

    · Awarded multiple Elite of Lexus awards for 23 continuous years

    Greg joined the company in 1990 at the invitation of Wayne Kuni, and immediately began an extensive acquisition search, which resulted in the purchase of Lexus of Denver. From 1991 to 1999, Greg was the President and General Manager of Kuni Lexus of Littleton. Under his leadership, Kuni Lexus received six Elite of Lexus awards and was named Colorado "Company of the Year" in 1996.

    Prior to joining Kuni Automotive, Greg spent four years as Vice President and General Manager of Honda Windward of Kaneohe, Hawaii, from 1986 to 1990. During this time, the dealership accomplished significant improvements in customer satisfaction, profitability, and market penetration.

    Greg received his education from the University of California at Santa Cruz. He began his automotive career in 1978 as a Sales Consultant for Town & Country Cadillac Oldsmobile Honda in Salinas, California. In his eight years with the company, he held the positions of New Car Sales Manager, General Sales Manager and General Manager.

    While residing in Hawaii, Greg was Vice President of the Kalihi-Palama Immigrant Service Center (1988-1990) and served on the board of the Hawaii Automobile Dealership Association (1988-89). In Colorado, Greg served on the national board of the Samaritan Institute (2001-04), the Colorado Department of Revenue State Dealer Board (1997-98) and the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association (1997-98), as well as the Lexus Dealers Interactive committee (1996-98), and chairman of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce (1995).

    Today, Greg is active in the Vancouver/Portland areas, serving on the boards of the Classic Wines Auction, Randall Children's Hospital foundation, the Wayne D. Kuni and Joan E. Kuni foundation, Greater Portland, Inc. and the Metro Portland Auto Dealers Association. He formerly served as Vice Chair of the Community Foundation of Southwest Washington. He and his wife, Michele, served as co-chairs of the Great Adventure Auction of 2012 for Medical Teams International, as well as co-chairs for the capital campaign for Randall Children's Hospital.  Greg is also serving as co-chair of the Classic Wines Auction in Portland for 2015.

    George Athan

    George Athan is the Chief Operating Officer for Kuni Automotive. Prior to becoming the Kuni Automotive COO, George was the President and General Manager of Audi San Diego with Kuni. 

    As the company's COO, George plays the major role in day to day operations of the 16 rooftops Kuni owns in four states. George ensures that Kuni Automotive and its dealerships provide industry leading customer experiences, superior brand representation and top tier operating performance. 

    Prior to joining Kuni, George spent 10 years with AutoNation as a eCommerce District Manager, Sales Manager, GSM and General Manager. 

    As an Audi dealer, George received the Audi Magna Award from 2008-2012, was on the Audi Marketing Council and is currently on the Audi Dealer Council.

  • Laura Carlisle
    Laura Carlisle

    A member of the Kuni team since 1994, Laura Carlisle serves as Kuni Automotive's Chief Financial Officer. She began her career with the company as Controller for Kuni Lexus in Littleton, Colorado. In 2000, Laura relocated to Portland, Oregon, where she held the position of Regional Controller for Kuni's Oregon dealerships. Laura accepted the position of Vice President of Administration for Kuni Automotive in 2007, and was responsible for training Kuni's Controllers and Office Managers, as well as overseeing human resources, legal affairs and internal audit compliance throughout the company and its subsidiaries. In 2009, Laura was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Kuni Automotive. Prior to joining Kuni, Laura worked as an associate and senior associate with Coopers & Lybrand in Portland, Oregon.

    Laura earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Texas Christian University, and is a member of both the Oregon Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. She currently serves on the Board of the Columbia Northwest Chapter of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

    Laura and her husband, Chris, have three children. In her spare time, Laura enjoys running, skiing, biking, traveling and being her kids' number one fan!

  • Matt Newell
    Matt Newell

    Matt Newell joined Kuni Automotive in 2011.  As Chief Legal Officer, Matt is responsible for managing all legal matters affecting the Kuni Automotive group of companies, including corporate governance, contract negotiations and litigation.  Matt is also responsible for managing the company's real estate portfolio, including the sourcing of new acquisitions, negotiating purchase and sale transactions, and managing construction projects.

    Prior to joining Kuni, Matt practiced law in the Corporate, Securities and Finance Group of Stoel Rives LLP in Portland, Oregon.   While at Stoel Rives, Matt represented and advised public and private companies on a wide range of business and legal matters, including corporate governance, federal and state securities regulation, mergers and acquisitions, and debt and equity financings.

    Matt received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota, and his B.A. philosophy, cum laude with distinction, from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.  He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Business Law Section of the Oregon State Bar.
